I am from Texas. My family owns a ranch in central Texas. My family has sponsored Mexicans for citizenship. I have fished/floated the Rio Grande with my father and brother and camped out on BOTH sides of the river. I have friends that own land on the Rio Grande. There are state parks and wildlife preserves down there, and lots of wildlife such as mountain lions, javelina hogs, coyote, and many other animals.
CONSEQUENTLY, I AM NOT SURPRISED THAT IDIOT NORTHERNERS, PANDERING POLITICIANS AND BLATHERING RADIO PUNDITS ARE FOR A BORDER FENCE! - They haven't a clue as to what is at stake....
Let me get it straight now. We ruin however large a portion of our border with Mexico, fencing off and basically giving that section of river back to Mexico. Additionally, we would deprive landowners access to the the river that gives their land any value, as well as depriving all wildlife in the area access to the river.
This, instead of simply prosecuting businesses employing illegals, enforcing existing laws and denying benefits to illegals.... STUPID!
WAIT, NOW YOU CAN'T ENFORCE THE LAWS, SOME ILLEGAL MIGRANT MIGHT GET HIS FEELINGS HURT....
True, every time we take a step toward solving the problem, some liberal judge steps in and disallows the firing of illegals, even though they have lied on employment applications or stolen identities and, of course, are in this country illegally. Apparently, that's not a big deal to a liberal who's sworn to uphold the law.
SO HERE'S A BETTER IDEA:
Mexico is the aggressor here and the Mexican government is responsible for the poor living and working conditions in Mexico. First we need to sanction Mexico for aggressively pushing off their poor and indigent on the U. S. Then we need to seize the river and build the fence on Mexico's side of the river. It would be worth it if by doing so we only stopped Mexico from taking water out of the river in excess of their allotment, which it routinely does. If we would do that, I'd go along with a fence. Otherwise, it's just stupid.
AND ANOTHER THING:
We will never see any common sense resolution on problems, such as illegal migration in this country as long as we have career politicians in power. They are not and will not represent the good people who they are sworn to represent, simply because there is no money in it. I mean, if there is a border fence to be built your representatives are trying to get the money for it funneled to their cronies - it's really that bad! The only way to get this country back on track is to take back representation. And since politicians will never vote themselves a term limit, how do we do that?
Remember Tom Daschle, or as I call him Dipshit Daschle. He should have represented the people who elected him. Now he's gone, basically for being a socialist and supporting things like gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) marriage . Apparently, all it takes is an educated public as part of a grass roots movement, to defeat politicians and install real representatives into government. It happened to the Republicans and now it needs to happen to the Democrats, who in the eyes of many, are the worst Congress to ever sit in the halls of power. And, all it takes for evil to triumph, and for our country to go down the drain, is for good people to stand by and do nothing, as the saying goes.
I see tumultuous times in the future for politicians, as long as the internet is free and talk radio, although not altogether agreeable, survives. Look for the government to try to tax, muzzle or basically shut down this free exchange of demand-based information in the near future, especially if Hillary is elected and a Democrat congress remains. Until then, our democratic republic will have a chance to survive.
