The Divided Info-Nation

I'm a McCain supporter, although I would have supported Mitt Romney for the ticket had he not withdrawn when he did.  When the issue of McCain vs. Obama came up at work recently, one of my co-workers stated simply that since Obama has never served in the military, then he should not be Comander In Chief or allowed to put our sons, daughters, fathers and mothers in harms's way.  OK so lets discuss this.  I think this is a good argument and one that in my mind gives the edge to McCain, in that regard.  But many would vehemently disagree with me, but not because of the reasons you might expect or any statistics that could be quoted, but with personal attacks and finger-pointing.  Any Democrat I have talked to recently firstly tears down McCain and Palin using whatever tools their media outlet supplies them with using character assault and name calling almost exclusively.  Likewise, Obama recieves the same teardown from conservatives who have shunned the liberal media.  What I do know is that this campaign and country is dividing the nation as never before and it is being done in the media.  It appears that more aggressively than ever, the agenda of the Democrats is being pushed by the major networks and NPR, while the agenda of the right is being upheld by Talk Radio and conservative media.  As a result, we are not only divided as citizenry, but additionally we are separated, depending upon from which end of the media trough we feed.  NPR libs on the left, Rush Limbaugh conservatives on the right.

There is almost no overlap on the part of these "sects" of media, concerning the subtext of this election, much less on the issues which are hardly at the forefront.  More importantly, not only are the two segments of popular news media telling different sides of the same story, in many cases they are not bringing forth the same stories at all.  This situation is extremely devisive to when trying to discuss issues and candidates with those that have a different view.  There is not just a differing view, there is a different set of information in play, depending on where you get your news.  So if you believe something is scandalous, then the other person may never have even heard of this issue.

Here is an example.  A friend of mine came to my house recently and got into a political discussion with me.  He drew "first blood", by saying that John McCain and Sarah Palin are "liars".  The conversation really tanked when I remarked that I thought Obama was a "marxist piece of $#!+" and that I would never vote for a socialist.  (In defense of myself, this was the day the stock market bottomed out, which I blame on socialist government policies - Fannie, Freddie and Obama/ACORN/Democrat policies that bully banks into making loans to people who can't afford them.  Hence, the current state of economic affairs and my intolerant attitude).  Anyway, thank goodness it didn't come to blows, because he really is a good guy and I'm way out of shape.

The question becomes: why can't we discuss politics calmly and resonably?  The short answer: We are divided at the information level.  He listens to NPR and I get my news from sources such as The Drudge Report, which is basically conservative and challenges mainstream media and NPR.  So, how did McCain become a liar and Obama not a liar?  I mean, did Obama vote only 93 times for tax hikes, instead of 94 or something like that?  I hadn't heard anyone calling McCain a liar, just accusations of fact-stretching.  On the other hand, Obama has denied ANY dealings with the infamous ACORN, but documents show that he actually ran training sessions and represented them in court!  How is it that my friend has not heard this?!  Does he see this as "fact-stretching" where I see a lie?

Anyway, neither his point, nor mine were made clear to the other person, because the conversation became incendiary over the character and methods of the candidates.  Did we dicsuss ideology?  We never had a chance.  Did we discuss the issues?  How could we?  Because, you can't discuss these things when the issues and ideology of the candidates are obfuscated by the divergence of information streams.  Is this by design of the media?  Is it their plan to create a frenzy of finger pointing and thereby obscure what is happening to our country and what our country is really all about, or should be about?  I say yes.

Resultingly, we have all become "ahmadine-jaded".  The other side is infidel!  They must be crushed!  There is no tolerance or attempt to understand the other sides needs or concerns, only mistrust of the others sides motivation.  There is only, "How can you vote for them?" And, "You must be a racist!"  How sad for our nation.  Watch, listen and be assimilated!

I believe that what is being done by, and to, this populace is unprecedented.  Those who subscribe to NPR and "The Big Four" - ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN are hardwired to that mindset.  And their capture has been years in the making, and through many types of manipulations.  Talk Radio, Fox News and Drudge have captured the "Patriot", of which I am one.  These media outlets are now in full "save the country mode", fighting back against the Big Four.  But, I see this as having the effect of emboldening the mainstream media to become more partisan, selectively ignorant, and to redouble its efforts on behalf of the Democrats.  In the minds of conservatives we are now at war with the Dems, and vice-versa.

So, as we warriors settle in for a quiet night at home watching the latest Bill Mahr appearance on Jay Leno, we surf the web on our laptops to find evidence to contradict the liberal spewage to which we subject ourselves.

Waiting..., for election day.  When once again we might be whole.

Thanks for reading.  Please remember the Bill Of Rights and our Constituion when voting.  That is all that really matters.

Abortion, Reality and Perspective

This post is in response to an article that I read concerning the attempted abortion of the weaker of two twins in utero, because of a heart enlargement.  After reading some comments posted there, I wanted to relate my personal experiences in that realm.

My first son was diagnosed with Type I (severe) SMA at 3 months.  This is a rapidly progressive disease of the motor neurons and without severe medical intervention, it results in the death of a baby in the first year of life.  An important note is that a fetus can be tested for it at 11 weeks through corianic villi sampling. We did not do this test and did not know my son would be affected.
After another 5-1/2 months of continual care (G-button feeding, constant throat suctioning, CPT treatment, etc...)from my wife and I, and a succession of nurses who couldn't "deal" with the situation, Hospice visits and finally on through morphine treatment for CO2 headache and on and on, my precious son died in our arms at home at 8-1/2 months of age.  He was loved, cared for and protected all his short life, and for all the gallons of tears that I cried during that time and all the desparation in looking for a cure, he blessed our lives in many ways.  However, it was a very, very hard situation, especially knowing the eventual outcome.  I, and my wife especially, were crushed and exhausted, and our marriage was strained.

Living through something like this gives you a new perspective on abortion and the reasons people might abort a baby.  Parents, hopefully, make the best decision they can based on the facts as they know them.  These are some things my experience has taught me:

1) I think that sometimes facts are skewed by the medical industry trying to "cover its own a$$". If I was told that I should "abort to save the other twin", I would be skeptical to say the least, and would definitely get second and third opinions.

2) There are many, many times when abortion should be considered unnecessary, unwarranted and downright barbaric. In these cases mothers, society, we as humans should choose life.  There is no hope, and no future for mankind in the snuffing out of human potential.  It, above all else, should be nurtured.

3) Neither my wife nor I would re-write the book on our experience.  However, if there ever came another pregnancy like our first, and knowing the eventual outcome, we would probably abort the pregnancy, having been "through the fire", so to speak.  Having no cure and no reasonable hope except that the soul of my precious son would be trapped in an inanimate body and on a ventilator for his entire life, - his eyes unable to move or focus, his lungs burning from the forced air, his feet, hands and musculature distorted and atrophied, I would choose to abort.  The burdens on the parents and on the child are too severe.

All this is why I feel such revulsion when women abort perfectly healthy babies.  I am reminded of the New York woman I read about recently who aborted two of her triplets because it would be too much of an inconvenience to birth and raise all three.  Imagine having to detail to your child how you scheduled the death of his or her siblings between work and vacation days.

Hillary Care - Fighting Fire With Gasoline

When you look at the state of our health care system it is a clear reflection of our government.  It is bloated, greedy, bureaucratic and authoritarian.  But these traits are not inherent in a free market health care system, they are an extension of the situation that health care finds itself in with government, liability issues, and an increasingly burdensome population of low-income, welfare and illegal alien health care recipients.  All these problems have been created by Socialism.  So, how is it that Hillary or any Dumbocrat thinks that MORE socialism is going to improve the health care situation?  That's like fighting fire with gasoline!

BURDENS ON THE HARD-WORKING TAXPAYER

Let's go back and think about tort reform, which hasn't really happened, and lawsuits and insurance costs that are driving doctors out of business and driving up health-care costs.  This is just plain corruption of the system.  Yes, the death or maiming of a loved on due to a mistake is horrible, and those responsible should have whatever licensing revoked and face criminal charges wherever they are appropriate.   But, allowing excessive judgements against hospitals and doctors is an outrage.  Don't shut down the whole health care system because of the negligence of a few doctors and nurses.  People, you have to be an advocate for yourself or your loved one whenever someone's health is at stake.  Get a second opinion, deny doctors the authoritarianism they try to exercise in many cases.  This is called taking responsibility for yourself.  After all this is the industry that has made childbirth a medical condition, as if to say childbirth is unnatural!  Do you really trust them so much?

I feel so sorry for poor Dennis Quaid and his family.  Should the hospital be sued?  No, the person(s) responsible for the incident should be investigated and criminally charged if necessary, and a medical review board should cast them out of the medical industry.  The two baby girls are really victims of this over-medicalization of the completely natural process of childbirth, and the whole process is corrupted by liability issues and lawyers.  I wonder how much the hospital charged them for that unneeded overdose that probably will permanently damage, if not kill his children?  Enough to cover the cost of the substance for the droves of illegal aliens or welfare mothers that, because of the liability issues involved, have to have the substance administered, lest the hopital be sued.  Do you see the sick compounded irony here?

This is another symptom of the same set of problems that we as patients have to deal with.  The corruption, the over-medicalization, the arrogance of medicine all in pursuit of more profit.  But then that would make socialism the answer, right?  WRONG!!!  Socialist authoritarianism, indifference and bureaucracy is the ugly step-sister (and her name is Hillary) of the corruption that exists in the health care/insurance/lawsuit-ridden mega-industry of today.

SO, WHAT IS THE ANSWER TO THE HIGH COST OF QUALITY HEALTH CARE?

First, let's all agree that this is really the issue - high cost.  And let's all realize that THE PROBLEM IS THE CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE.  Now, let's look at the causes:

Problem 1)    Tort reform hasn't happened and must happen to reduce excessive and frivolous lawsuits.

Why hasn't  it happened?  Lawyers have one of the biggest lobbies in congress, therefore congress won't act for real reform.

SOLUTION - VOTE IN A NEW CONGRESS, INSTALL TERM LIMITS AND OUTLAW THE LOBBY.

Problem 2)    The socialist-created welfare state and illegal migration populations add billions per year to healthcare costs.

Why hasn't this changed? Congress is beholding to the socialist welfare state it has created to stay in power and to hispanic lobby groups.

SOLUTION - VOTE IN A NEW CONGRESS, INSTALL TERM LIMITS AND OUTLAW THE LOBBY.

Problem 3)     The medical and the insurance industries are both sucking the money out of the taxpaying citizen's wallet to maximize profit through authoritarian policies, unneeded procedures and hugely inappropriate costs and bureaucracy.

Why hasn't this changed? The medical and the insurance lobbies are two of the biggest lobbies in congress.

SOLUTION - VOTE IN A NEW CONGRESS, INSTALL TERM LIMITS AND OUTLAW THE LOBBY.

So all we really know is that socialism and corruption have not worked in the health care industry.  HOW ABOUT TRYING IT WITHOUT SOCIALISM AND CORRUPTION?  Think costs might come down?  Of course!

Estate Tax - Just Another Socialist Tool

Why does government tax people upon the receipt of estates from their deceased parents?  In comparison to the other tax mechanisms, and there are many, the proceeds from estate taxes are small.  There is some allowance to a certain amount, I think it is $2 million this year, which is way down from years and years ago.  Anything over that amount is taxed vigorously, and family businesses and farms are often left decimated by the tax bill.

This money is basically taken out of the economy, shifted to our "wise" government to be distributed to welfare recipients, social programs, loans to turd world countries, congressional raises and benefits, unpopular military actions in deserts around the world, etc..., etc.....  You get the picture, the government thinks it knows better how to spend your fathers life's work than you do....  NOT!

THE SOCIALIST AGENDA AND THE DEATH TAX

Recently, the media came out babbling about WARREN BUFFETT'S RECOMMENDATION to Congress to keep taxing estates at death.  What many of the media fail to mention is that he RECOMMENDED INCREASING THE ALLOWANCE THAT IS NOT TAXED to $3.5 million, and $4 million shortly thereafter.

The liberal media would have you believe that old Warren believes in taxing the crap out of anyone who inherits anything.   It's just another example of our SOCIALIST MEDIA REPORTING THE AGENDA, INSTEAD OF THE NEWS!

What, then, is the agenda?  Why all this fuss over the paltry inheritance of some farmer or businessman?  When considering the socialist agenda, you are better served to consider the larger view of the socialist Democrat, since that type of political hack has no consideration for the individual, individual liberties or rights.  The socialist Democrat is only concerned with the cumulative mass of humanity they seek to control, and how they might accomplish that control.  The socialist Democrat politician wants to believe that the populous works for the government, while the populous wants to believe the reverse.  Hence, the big government agenda to incentivise the reduction of most of our society to a mass that is dependent on government, devoid of morals and worthwhile self-direction, and that is easily demagogued and manipulated.

To understand that,  we must understand what the socialist Democrat thinks.  In that vein, here's what I think some of your favorite socialist Democrats, like Schmucky, Stretch or Dingy, might be thinking at any given time while in your employ:

ONE MINUTE INSIDE A SOCIALIST DEMOCRATS MIND:

"Damn tax breaks, now the economy is taking off!  How am I going to get re-elected?  If I don't get re-elected, I don't get my free trips and "massages", damn there's a lot at stake here!  With all this upsurge in the economy there are going to be more and more people getting ahead, more people off public assistance and more conservative voters!  We have to do something!"

"I know, let's raise taxes, slow the economy, promote socialist, oops, err...,  free public health care for low  and middle wage earners and illegals.  Yea, that's right we'll buy or import the votes we need!  We'll keep paying unwed mothers to have children that end up on welfare.  Yea, that one works very well!  Pretty soon socialists will outnumber the people who have a work ethic and believe in the free market.  Then we'll control the country, not the other way around."

"Wait a minute.  Somebody died? Did he have much money? Left it to his son, you say, hmmm.  Well, by damn, part of that needs to go to creating the socialist welfare state.  We can't have people inheriting large sums of money without the state getting its cut.  Those people will be putting it back into the economy and donating it to charities of their choice and crazy stuff like that.
Why that would be un-democratic!  It'll undermine our agenda!"

"F#*k, I wish people would just work for one of my corporate cronies, pay taxes, die, pay more taxes, and quit trying to accumulate wealth for their families, it just complicates things.  Damn talk radio spilling the beans.  We'll shut them down next year though, heh, heh..."

"By the way, when is my tee time?  Eleven-thirty, I think.  Oh goody, that gives me time to molest that page before for brunch!   And then this evening, I can wire the kickback to my offshore account.  Man, life is good when your a pandering elitist socialist rat!"

WHAT SOCIALISM AND ESTATE TAX REALLY DOES TO A SOCIETY

Democratic tax and spend policy, is really not redistribution of wealth, as much as it is distribution of shared misery, mediocrity and oppression.  The death tax is just another tool the socialist Democrat uses to gain and retain more and more power, and it is unfortunate for the honest achievers of the U. S., because theirs is the hip pocket to which the grubby/greedy hand of the government gravitates.

I, like many others, have worked all my life to make a good home for my family, put away a little money and try to keep up with the increasing cost of a decent home in a decent neighborhood.  All this while preparing to pay for the skyrocketing cost of college, out-of-sight medical bills, etc..., etc..., all on a single salary.  This is not to mention the stress of always trying to do better, taking chances, moving jobs and locations for promotions, etc..., which, in all honesty, has taken years off my life.  Ah, but it will all have been worth it right?  Maybe not....  When I left home to do all this, I hoped someday to return home to take over the family ranch that I worked on as a child.  Land that I bled and sweated into, that is a part of who I am, and that my father and mother now attempt to preserve for me.   However, this seems less and less likely as the death tax stares us in the face , like the picture of Big Brother stared at Winston in "1984".  Each year, more and more socialists are born and indoctrinated by the very environs that self-advancing socialism creates.  Socialism festers in urban cesspools, rural small towns, in public schools and most colleges.  It erodes our country and our constitution.  It creeps insidiously forward with every new tax and every new government handout.

The estate tax, however, is special to the socialist, it is not just another tool in his tool box.  It is the exclamation point at end of the stated doctrine of socialism, and it decimates the individualistic healthy soul of a free society.  In effect estate tax says, "You never really own anything, you never really control anything, you just work for us, the government, until you die.  Then we take a little more."

Why Penalize Ourselves When Mexico's The Problem?

I am from Texas. My family owns a ranch in central Texas. My family has sponsored Mexicans for citizenship.  I have fished/floated the Rio Grande with my father and brother and camped out on BOTH sides of the river. I have friends that own land on the Rio Grande. There are state parks and wildlife preserves down there, and lots of wildlife such as mountain lions, javelina hogs, coyote, and many other animals.

CONSEQUENTLY, I AM NOT SURPRISED THAT IDIOT NORTHERNERS, PANDERING POLITICIANS AND BLATHERING RADIO PUNDITS ARE FOR A BORDER FENCE!    -  They haven't a clue as to what is at stake....

Let me get it straight now. We ruin however large a portion of our border with Mexico, fencing off and basically giving that section of river back to Mexico. Additionally, we would deprive landowners access to the the river that gives their land any value, as well as depriving all wildlife in the area access to the river.

This, instead of simply prosecuting businesses employing illegals, enforcing existing laws and denying benefits to illegals.... STUPID!

WAIT, NOW YOU CAN'T ENFORCE THE LAWS, SOME ILLEGAL MIGRANT MIGHT GET HIS FEELINGS HURT....

True, every time we take a step toward solving the problem, some liberal judge steps in and disallows the firing of illegals, even though they have lied on employment applications or stolen identities and, of course, are in this country illegally.  Apparently, that's not a big deal to a liberal who's sworn to uphold the law.

SO HERE'S A BETTER IDEA:

Mexico is the aggressor here and the Mexican government is responsible for the poor living and working conditions in Mexico.  First we need to sanction Mexico for aggressively pushing off their poor and indigent on the U. S.  Then we need to seize the river and build the fence on Mexico's side of the river.  It would be worth it if by doing so we only stopped Mexico from taking water out of the river in excess of their allotment, which it routinely does.  If we would do that, I'd go along with a fence.  Otherwise, it's just stupid.

AND ANOTHER THING:

We will never see any common sense resolution on problems, such as illegal migration in this country as long as we have career politicians in power.  They are not and will not represent the good people who they are sworn to represent, simply because there is no money in it.  I mean, if there is a border fence to be built your representatives are trying to get the money for it funneled to their cronies - it's really that bad!  The only way to get this country back on track is to take back representation.  And since politicians will never vote themselves a term limit, how do we do that?

Remember Tom Daschle, or as I call him Dipshit Daschle.  He should have represented the people who elected him. Now he's gone, basically for being a socialist and supporting things like gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) marriage .  Apparently, all it takes is an educated public as part of a grass roots movement, to defeat politicians and install real representatives into government.  It happened to the Republicans and now it needs to happen to the Democrats, who in the eyes of many, are the worst Congress to ever sit in the halls of power.  And, all it takes for evil to triumph, and for our country to go down the drain, is for good people to stand by and do nothing, as the saying goes.

I see tumultuous times in the future for politicians, as long as the internet is free and talk radio, although not altogether agreeable, survives.  Look for the government to try to tax, muzzle or basically shut down this free exchange of demand-based information in the near future, especially if Hillary is elected and a Democrat congress remains.  Until then, our democratic republic will have a chance to survive.

Al Gore - Poligogue, Junk Pseudo-Scientist and Liar

If I have one pet peeve of late, it is Al Gore.  This man has been proven to be a liar by climate experts, research and field data.  He is a lifelong politician - contrary to his bio he is not a Tennessee "farmer" by any stretch.  In fact he was raised in an apartment in Washington DC, learning the political game from a very young age.   He has made his mark, not by being effective in government (remember the do-nothing vice-president), but has made a name for himself only by trying to undermine a presidential election, and by yelling the loudest about the myth of man-made global warming, which he didn't invent, but will take credit for at some point.  However, we here at Townhall.com and "Eyes" prefer facts over farce.

Recently a judge ruled that there were NINE scietific flaws in Gore's film. Now, let's forget for a minute that the atmosphere of earth has warmed and cooled for millennia, and that driving your SUV cannot possibly have caused the coincidental warming that Mars has experienced.  In this debate, the simple, undeniable truth that glares at us like an afternoon summer sun is as follows:

Antarctic ice core samples show that the rise in carbon dioxide levels lags behind temperature rise by 800 years, therefore cannot be the cause of it.

In "An Inconvenient Truth" Gore lies about this.  I know because I watched this film and gave it a chance until even my wife said she had had enough propaganda to last until we go completely socialist in a few years.  Al Gore basically says in his movie that CO2 increase leads and causes global warming.  THIS IS A LIE.  Call it lying, misleading, lies of omission, whatever....  If you saw the movie, you know what he was saying.  But, being the marginally proficient politician/demagogue, or poligogue, that he is, he also says something like, "it's a little more complicated than that, but CO2 is the cause..., blah, blah, blah."

Another thing struck me as I watched Gore's self-aggrandizing turd of a movie, not once does he mention THE SUN as possibly playing a direct role in the heating and cooling of the planet. On the contrary, it is assumed therein that the sun is an always-constant,  passive participant in the whole matter.  As I watched, my mind was screaming the question, "What about the sun, you idiot!"   I got no response.

LIAR, big, fat, bloated, carbon-credit-trading LIAR, Al Gore, ...and, they gave this guy a Nobel peace prize?  The international tension that results from this propaganda is likely to spark a war, not peace.

In a recent development, NASA released corrected temperature information showing that 1998 was not the hottest year of the millennia.  No, it was 1934.  And, 1998 was not even in the top five hottest. The top five hottest were all before WW II!!

Hello..., McFly!!?

You would think this would make an impression, but no such luck.  And no response from Gore or any of the other poligogues or mainstream media.  Only a wimper of a story that will soon be relegated to the back pages.  Hey, talk radio and internet blogging do their bit to stop the misinformation and crisis mongering, but how can they match the constant flow of CNN and Hollywood lies?

I do have a concise theory on this, though, and it has to do with my "follow the money to the answers" theory on just about everything:

The reason anthropogenic global warming is being forced down our throats by the left, big media, and the UN, is simple. This "new industry of global warming" is what simple-minded leftists and poligogues like Gore can come up with to make a buck; and to seize more power which always translates into more money for poligogues.

This..., since they were too stupid to "invent" the internet.

Illegal Migration - Follow The Money

I was born about 90 miles from the Mexican border.  That's the Rio Grand for those who have been publicly educated in the past 20 years.  Growing up and living in Texas all your life gives one a keen perspective on the problems, attitudes and repercussions that have resulted from this basically unchecked illegal migration that has been in play my whole life.

When I was growing up, groups of Mexican men would walk up to where we were working on the ranch looking for work. They would be tired and hungry, ...destitute.  My father would hire them or find them work.  It was the Christian, and the right thing to do, and he might be able to get a few more things done that he wouldn't have, otherwise.  They were glad to get the modest wages, food and shelter that my father could provide for them, because it was 10 times what they could earn in Mexico.  Most would stay a while to make some money, sending it back to their families, then leave to go back home. A few without families of their own would stay longer. They weren't taking the jobs of any Americans.  My father eventually sponsored some Mexicans for citizenship.

Later in life, I remember asking my Dad why we weren't hiring any more "mojados", meaning "wets" (it wasn't derogatory then, it just meant they had swimmed the river).  He told me it was because he couldn't take the chance, since the government was cracking down on those that were hiring them and assessing costly fines, etc....  This was in the '80s.  OK, fair enough, until now, years later when it turns out that for the past ten or fifteen years, businesses in this country have basically been allowed to hire illegals as full time employees, without repercussions and with the federal government's directive not to fire them if they are found to be illegal migrants. I'm talking fake social security numbers and everything - it's OK by your government.

Now, I've been known to call a spade a spade, and I've learned to follow the money to find out what's really going on.  Here are the things at play, as I, and others, see them:

THE INSTIGATOR

1. Mexico and the Mexican government are where the problem starts.  The Mexican poor are basically what's left of the poor natives (Aztecs and whatever else) that mixed with the Spaniards and that the Mexican Government never took care of.  And there's a bunch of them, since they're all Catholic (not that there's anything wrong with that) and they're urged to procreate.  Did you ever take a look at Vicente Fox? He's mostly (if not all) of European descent. Most of the wealth and land in Mexico is owned by a very small percentage of the population - the elite. You can guess what their lineage is.  Also, Mexico has a culture of corruption.  I believe they still have an unofficial branch of the government which assists people in illegally migrating, lest there be an uprising of the poor and the emergence of communism.

I remember my father telling me that one Mexican man he had sponsored, and that had gained citizenship had borrowed $2,000 dollars from him to go back and get his wife and chidren out of Mexico. Basically they needed birth and marriage records to be certified, and access to other documents.  But, the money was not for government fees, but for grease money to Mexican public servants, just to get access to their own records.

THE FACILITATOR

2. Businesses in the United States, usually publicly owned, run by MBAs and driven by bonuses and stock options have diminished the need, and the tolerance for high-priced U.S. labor.  The government has allowed domestic businesses to fill this labor vaccuum with Mexican migrant labor. The unions ignore the writing on the wall, although their numbers continue to dwindle.

So? The consumer gets a cheaper new home built by Mexicans, right?  Nah, doesn't work that way.  While, at face value, it doesn't look too bad, the burden these, now,  low-level wage earning households put on the economy is estimated at over 200 billion a year. This is because they don't only take jobs, they take government benefits, everything from free lunches to CHIP health care and emergency room care.  Hey, if you're a U.S. citizen, you or your insurance company pay at least $6,000 to have a baby at a hospital. But if you're illegal, come on down to Parkland Hospital in Dallas and have your baby FREE... Se Habla Espanol!  So you see, we, the citizen consumers, are not getting a good deal. We're getting screwed.

Numbers presented by CNN transcripts reveal that about $140 BILLION a year is spent on illegals for welfare, medical, education and incarceration (30% of the Ferderal prison population), and this doesn't include the lost wages of U. S. citizens.  The opposite side of the coin is that it would only cost $220 billion to deport all of them for good.  We'd be in the black after 2 years!  We're getting about as good a deal as we did when we bought lead-tainted toys from China, via Matel!  (Gee, thanks corporate suits, my baby is brain-damaged, but at least you got your six-figure bonus, aarrgh!!!!)  ...Sorry, I digress.

ALL THAT IS NEEDED FOR EVIL TO FLOURISH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO STAND BY AND DO NOTHING (OR HELP EVIL IN THIS CASE)

3. Career politicians, Republicans and especially Democrats, see this as an opportunity to import votes, feather their nests in the halls of power, polish up their legacies (Pres. Bush), and provide cheap labor for their business cronies - a triple win. While Republicans want to get on the bandwagon and win the Mexican/Hispanic vote, they never will.  But, they still have a win-win by getting rich from being in positions of power and helping their business constituents, which translates to a tremendous amount of money down the road for them as board-members, CEOs etc....

Now, there are a few exceptions, Congressman Sam Johnson, 3rd district, Texas, for one, is doing a great job.  Thanks, Sam.  Also, Senator Cornyn has done  fairly well.

THE FLY IN THE OINTMENT

Now you have this little annoying squeaky voice of talk radio and internet blogging and so-on, crying out in anger and indignation about what is right, saying, "the Constitution-this, and my taxes-that", and "We don't need reform, we need enforcement of the law"!   Do you think politicians would like to squash our annoying little voice?  Yes.

Do you think these forces in play will yield to what we think out here in radio/blog land...?  NO, our elected officials apparently don't care what we think because they keep trying to legalize millions of illegals, by pushing through immigration reform.  Because, sorry Dad, it's not about right and wrong anymore, it's all about politics and money.

This is just my humble opinion, based on simple observation and some facts that I've encountered.  Thanks for reading.
